the 18th

I woke up this morning totally exhausted, unrested, and hurting from head to toe. I ended up at the ER again. I will be anxiously awaiting another $4000.00 bill from MTMC. hurray! They did another x-ray and now I am diagnosed me with acute bronchitis. Well, there is nothing cute about it. I have been coughing for about a week now. My throat does not hurt though. I have 3 prescriptions including an inhaler. Also I just had to take some more ibuprofren due to the burning in my back which is the precursor to pleurisy inflammation. I have not been to a doctor, hospital, clinic, taken any meds including aspirin since 1998. This bites!

Angela, one of the folks that has been coming to church, had a death in her family today. Oh my goodness! Talk about getting baptized into pastoral work. Tonight we went to visit with the family at their request. We took some food items and had a good visit. The funeral will be Friday. We had prayer for Angela. She is taking this hard. Her uncle, the one that died, was a foster parent of 75 children and has adopted 4 of them. He was to be 55 next month. He died of melinoma which he was diagnosed with just last month. It's awful. The 4 children are younger than my oldest whom is 11. One of his kids, the only son, wrote a note and said his life sucks. He is 8. How sad! Please pray for this family. They are country and poor. Not that they need prayer for being country. Angela can use alot of prayer as well.

My how things change

It's been a few weeks since I blogged but wow. No longer am I in good health. Pneumonia and pleurisy is back. I do not have alot of pain but I do have coughing, sneezing, congestion, and fever. This bites! I sleep, sleep, sleep. My blood pressure has been up and I am having headaches due to it. Some things I've read tell me that the fever and such menas I am recovering. Let's hope so. I have missed so much work. Poor Wendy is stressed out. We are broke and my hands are tied.

My grandmother is on her death bed. She has a living will that says no life support, etc. The doctors say it could be 5 minutes or 5 days. She has been so sick for so many years that it just seems best to let her go. However I am so torn and confused because I am not aware of her spiritual condition. All I can do is hope and pray. This is my mother's mom. My mother's birthday is Tuesday; why is it that death seems to always come around a birthday or Christmas? Mom wants me to be a pallbearer. I am sorta depressed this week.

what a week

First of all I am back in good health. Strong once again! Thank the Lord.

Monday: the car started overheating but never got HOT. All the water was gone from the cooling system. The car started running funny. Oh boy, here we go. This caused stress all week nearly. Caetie's clogging teacher had to bring her home from practice for us. Thanks again Gail.

Tuesday: work went well. Brad and I started at a new job site Monday and will be there for several weeks possibly until January. We like it; well all but the drive and the early wake up hours. Toby had a ball game against a good, undefeated team. My parents came for the first time. We were all glad about that. Toby's team played well and had a good shot at winning though the did not. Toby scored a run and got a good hit. This hit had some air underneath it.

Wednesday: We had a good church service and then afterwards went to view a building that we had been considering renting for service. We all talked together about it, looked it over, and prayed about it. Before we all had some concerns but after prayer and discussion we unanimously decided to move forward with the lease. We can probably seat 50 or 60 in it comfortably. It's nice and cozy with ac and 2 bathrooms. The children will have a good Sunday School area as well. We are excited. There is a little work to be done but this is a forward step for our ministry. Thank you Lord!

Thursday: Wendy was sick. She had a fever all night. I stayed home from work to assist with the kids. LAter that afternoon Toby had ball practice scheduled. We took the kids by the new church building. Afterwards we headed out to practice and the car started acting up bad. All the water came out. We filled it up. It came out again. We filled it up and it came out again. It made some awful noise and I was afraid I was going to crack the head. We pulled over on the side of a main road for awhile. We limped to Advance Auto Parts and the manager came and looked at it. We bought a presserized cap for the system, filled it up with water, and that problem is solved. If your cooling system ever starts giving you a fit replace the radiator cap first. They are very inexpensive and replacing it cannot hurt.

Friday: Being proud of my fixed car I told Brad I would drive to work. We piled in, headed to Walmart to get fuel, and then... I put my foot on the brake to start the car after pumping gas and the pedal went to the floor. I said that was wierd. I pulled out and the car would not stop; well it almost wouldn't. We had very little brakes. We slowly headed to the house. I almost slid through a major intersection. Thank you Jesus for answered prayers. I have had a bad feeling about the brakes for a long time. I felt like they were going to go out soon. My prayer was that the kids wwould not be in the car when and if they did. They were at home asleep. We dropped the car off and took Brad's SUV.
Wendy called at work and said all the brake shops were saying $400-600 for the repairs. A friend from work, Don (who used to work at CTIS with me), volunteered to give it a shot. He drove me home and found the ruptured brake line. We went and got parts and tools. He left at 11pm to ehad home after a job well done. He lives about 2 hours a way from us. Maybe a bit shorter. What a guy! We test drove the car after the repairs and it stops on a dime now at 50mph. Awesome!

Saturday: Wen got up to pay rent and take Caet to get her hair cut. Toby's ball pictures have been cancelled due to storms. Caet has a clogiing show, her first, at 2pm in Chapel Hill. It's 10am and I am signing off.

Toby and the Gators

Toby is playing fall ball. Yep, he had his first practice tonight. He has never played any type of organized sport or even a backyard sport for that matter. We signed him up late but they had room. His coach is from Florida and of course is a Florida Gators fan. No prob with that here! chomp, chomp

The coach and his assistants seem to be very good with young kids. Toby is the tallest one on the team. He did very well. The coaches took him off to the side and taught him each thing individually while the others were practicing. See the practice season had already started. Some kids have played before of course. They have a scrimmage game Saturday.

He had alot of fun. he hit the ball well too considering it was his first time. They practiced running bases at the end of practice. I told Toby he was going to have to run faster. I told him he needed to run like a dog was chasing him because he would have been caught by a dog tonight.

I had a 95% pain free day today. I have hurt for a long time now. I worked my tail off today. I was afraid I might have overdid it. I'm gonna sleep good tonight. We have a new guy at work. He is an older man and says he's an electrician. I say this because he is obviously experienced and not a helper. I ran circles around him today. Seriously I ran about 4 times as much conduit as him. I love working hard and getting alot done. It's a competitive thing for me.
